117th Jayanthi Mahotsavam of Sri Mahaswamiji celebrated at Kanchi - The 117th Jayanthi Mahotsavam of Pujyasri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamiji, the 68th Pontiff of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, was celebrated at Srimatam, Kanchipuram in the presence of Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Sankaracharya Swamiji. The celebrations began on 26th May with Veda Parayanam, Veda Vidvat Sadas, Religious discourses, Nama Sankeertan and Music concerts being held everyday. On 26th, Sri Anayampatti S. Ganesan gave a Jalatarangam concert. Neyveli Sri Santhanagopalan's vocal concert was held on the 27th evening. On 28th, the Jayanthi day, Sri Rudra Parayanam commenced at 7.00 am. Various pujas and homas were performed at the Adhishtanam of Sri Mahaswamiji. At around 12.30 pm, Mahabhishekam was performed at the Adhistanam. A large number of devotees took part in the celebrations. Annadaanam was offered to the devotees at Srimatam with volunteers working at a rapid pace to keep pace with the huge turnout. In the evening, an endowment lecture was organized by Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Maha Vidyalaya, Deemed University, Enathur, Kanchipuram at the Adhistana hall. Prof. V. Krishnamurthy, (Retd. Professor of Mathematics, BITS-Pilani), a famous exponent of the Bhagavad Gita and author of several religious books, gave the lecture, emphasising on the importance of Guru and Guru Parampara. This was followed by a Mandolin Duet recital by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Asthana Vidwans Sri. U. Srinivas and Sri. U. Rajesh, and party. The portrait of Sri Mahaswamiji was taken out in a newly-made chariot at Srimatam around the Adhistanam. His Holiness led the procession. |
